This short and sweet post is inspired by all 2-3 year old children. My son Van is nearly 3 and when it comes to fight or flight instincts, he’s ALL KINDS of flight. I mean, I thought I was flight but this kid takes it to a new level. It seems my son’s flight instinct involves playing dead. What on earth is playing dead, you ask? Oh, I just happen to have the perfect example:
Effective, isn’t it. So, when caught in the cross hairs of something you don’t want to do this week, whether it’s at work, at home, or just out and about, don’t face the issue head on. Just play dead. And if you do, make sure you remember to close your eyes and stop moving. Sort of gives you away otherwise. 😉 Your boss on you about the latest TPS report? Play dead in your chair until he/she awkwardly walks away. Your chatty coworker asking you about your weekend before you can even have your coffee in the morning? Play dead by slinking to the floor in front of the coffee machine until they get the hint. Your kids hanging off of you wanting to wrestle when you just want one moment of silence, for the love of all that is good and holy? Just channel a 3 year old and play dead until they get confused and find something else to do.
Happy Monday, from Van and I.
