Amy Slack
For the past decade Amy Slack nurtured a growing desire to use her creative skills professionally, to introduce a new aesthetic to upcycled furniture and home ware. By 2019 her calling to make the career change could no longer be ignored and she took the plunge and left the financial security of a corporate career to launch Pinkyswifts. Spending her childhood alongside parents who themselves were keen upcyclers, Amy had developed an interest in craft from an early age and today, together with her husband Steve, often supported by their dog Reggie, they have created a highly individual home which contains many restored and restyled vintage pieces cleverly showcasing their unique interiors style.
Launching four years ago, Pinkyswifts has not only acquired a name for excellence of finish and individuality in design, the business has become a successful professional upcycling studio and member of the House of Upcycling. Owner Amy Slack’s bold use of colour and hand painted geometric designs to create statement furniture and home ware for modern interiors have turned Pinkyswifts into a stand-out sustainability-minded interiors brand. She has showcased her products at Design London and Grand Designs Live, also hosting upcycling demonstrations at both. As part of her preparation to create a successful creative business, Amy studied for an HND in Cabinet Making and now works from her dedicated workshop in Northamptonshire, where she also hosts upcycling workshops.
